March 21st is World Down Syndrome Day. And at Le Bar à Chaussettes, it's an event we wouldn't miss for anything. Since 2021, we've been mismatched our selections to support Trisomie 21 France: and thanks to you, this adventure grows a little bigger every year.

Why March 21st? Because people with Down syndrome have 3 copies of chromosome 21 instead of 2, hence the 21st day of the 3rd month. And why socks? Because chromosomes look like socks. QED.

This year, the chosen theme is particularly powerful: “Together Against Loneliness”. A message that gives even more meaning to our commitment, and to yours.

“Together Against Loneliness”: this year's theme

Difference can isolate. It's a simple observation, but one that affects thousands of people daily. People living with Down syndrome can find themselves distant from social circles that we sometimes take for granted: work, hobbies, outings with friends, everyday small talk.

This year, Trisomie 21 France highlights testimonials from people with Intellectual Developmental Disorder. They talk about how they fight loneliness, why it's important to them. Voices that matter. The message is clear: loneliness is not inevitable. And every mismatched sock worn on March 21st is a way of saying "you are not alone."

In 2025, we went even further

Last year, in addition to our national operation, we carried out two special actions in partnership with regional branches:

• Trisomie 21 Île-de-France: €3,000 in donations in 2025
• Trisomie 21 Hérault: €1,600 in donations in 2025

2026: the movement gains momentum

We are particularly proud to see the dynamic growing this year. More and more companies are contacting us as March 21st approaches to participate in these operations. Mismatched socks are becoming a true symbol of corporate solidarity, and that warms our feet (and our hearts).

Another good news: local Trisomie 21 associations are ordering socks at wholesale prices to organize their own sales. The profits go directly to them and fund their actions on the ground. This is exactly the spirit we are aiming for: a virtuous circle where mismatched socks create connection and impact.
